Project type: Solo project
My role: UX Designer/UX Researcher
Tools: Adobe illustrator, Figma, Miro
Skills: user research, empathy map, experience map, competitive analysis, wireframing, prototyping
College students have busy schedules with course loads, work, and social obligations
Busy college students face heavy course loads, work obligations, and social engagements, leaving little time to focus on health and wellness
Many students want to achieve their body goals and nutrition, but don’t have the time to search for recipes that align with their needs
Current meal planning options require excessive time and effort, making it difficult to stay consistent with a balanced diet
Problem
Nutrify aims to empower college students to manage their nutrition with a time-saving personalized meal plan solution based on
Body goals
Dietary restrictions
Ingredients they already have at home
Vision
Scan Your Fridge: Users take a picture of their fridge, and the app automatically detects and uploads all visible ingredients
AI Analyzes Ingredients: The system extracts a list of detected ingredients and prompts users to confirm or add missing items
Automatic Recipe Generation: Once confirmed, AI suggests a meal that aligns with the user’s dietary restrictions and body goals
Set Your Body Goal: Choose whether to lose, maintain, or gain weight
Define Dietary Restrictions: Select allergies, preferences, or restrictions (e.g., vegan, gluten-free)
Get Tailored Meal Plans: AI suggests meals that align with your goals and preferences
Calorie and Protein Recommendation: Shows the user's personalized daily calorie and protein intake based on their body goal and activity level, reinforcing healthy eating habits
Meal Details: Displays nutritional breakdown (calories, protein, carbs, fats) to help users make informed choices
Easily Swap Meals: Users can seamlessly swap out meals with AI-suggested alternatives based on their dietary preferences and body goals, ensuring flexibility without the hassle of manually searching for replacements.

Final Prototypes
In this screen, we have the onboarding process
Users can sign up with their mobile number, opt into notifications, and input personal details like weight and height
This information is crucial for the AI to calculate more accurate calorie goals and protein intake, ensuring that the meal plans are personalized to each user’s health and wellness needs.
Next, users are prompted to select their health goals, dietary restrictions, and activity levels
This step ensures that the AI’s predictions for calorie and protein intake are even more tailored to each user’s specific needs
Next, users are directed to their dashboard, where their personalized calorie and protein intake are displayed for easy reference
From here, users can scroll through the meals planned for each day of the week
If they’d prefer a different meal, they can easily swap it out with another AI-suggested option, giving them more flexibility and control over their meal planning
Finally, we have the Fridge Scanner
Users can click on the button, take a picture of their fridge, and the app will analyze the ingredients available
Based on what’s in the fridge, users will be provided with a recipe suggestion that makes use of those ingredients, helping to minimize food waste and save time
REFLECTION
This project marked my first full-fledged dive into UI/UX design. It was an eye-opening experience, giving me hands-on exposure to everything from creating an empathy map to conducting user testing. Nutrify taught me just how crucial user insights are in creating a product that truly resonates. By focusing on students’ struggles with time, nutrition, and wellness, I was able to develop a solution that not only saves time but also helps users meet their health goals.
